Who are CSFS?

We are a Not-for-Profit organization formed in August 2021 by young, vibrant Zambians who want to advance the government’s agricultural efforts to empower farmers with climate smart farming technologies. We provide farmers with training on evidence-based climate-smart agriculture and collaborate with agricultural research, extension services, and market linkage.

Our goal is to better Zambian farmers’ livelihoods through:

  1. growing safer and higher quality food crops,
  2. using sustainable climate-smart agriculture practices
  3. facilitating good market value chains and ensuring farmers are not exploited

Although our organization is young, our team has a comprehensive track record with more than 20 years of field experience working on climate-smart farming in Sub-Saharan Africa. We have vaste experience working with farmers, universities, research institutions, government, and extension services while designing and following up on over 200 farmers’ field trials. We have implemented numerous research trials, organized farmer trainings, summer schools for university students, contributed to scientific reports and developed educational material.

Our expertise include:

  • collaborating with smallholder farmers and local governments
  • trial design and identifying fields suitable for research trials
  • training farmers and extension staff in climate-smart farming methods, and facilitating business related to the training of trainers.
  • developing database of companies seeking to work with smallholder farmers and support the farmers in making sound investments

The team has a diverse range of skills and experience in the agricultural sector, resulting in a unique combination of research experience, agricultural knowledge, and practical know-how. We are committed to helping farmers protect their soil from degradation and improve their income to build greater resilience.
